Eye Strain |
Eye strain is one of major causes of headache. This is one of the major symptoms as well. It is also known as Asthenopia in medical terms. This is also said to be one of the major reasons of headaches as well. Eye strain can be further described as one of the opthalmologic condition which has various types of symptoms.

- Fatigue: This is a major cause of eye strain. Tiredness will lead to fatigue which will in turn lead to headache.
- Red eyes: This is one of the major symptoms of eye strain as well. Your eyes will turn sore and they will become red. This also shows that your eyes are tired and need some rest.
- Pain in or around the eyes: Pain in and around eyes is also one of the major types of symptoms for eye strains. You will not be able to keep your eyes open all throughout the time.
- Blurred vision: Another major symptom of eye strain is blurred vision. You will not be able to see things properly.
- Occasional double vision: At times you will also find that you are having a double vision of the things. This is also a major symptom of eye strain.
Eye strain can also result from various other types of activities. This includes concentrating on various tasks such as reading books or using computers. If you are focusing intently on a book or if you are continuously looking at a computer monitor or TV screen, this can lead to eye strain. Intensely concentrating on a particular thing will tighten the inner muscles of your eyes. This will make your eyes dry or uncomfortable as well as irritated. Along with this, if you are continuously looking or concentrating on a thing which is located at a long distance, this will further aggravate the problem of eye strain.
If you are working on a computer, take care that the CRT of the monitor should not be less than 70Hz. If it is less than this, then it will cause a severe eye strain. While working on computers always go for large number of refreshes as well as always opt for larger font sizes as well. Other than all these, there can be other reasons for eye strain as well. Some of these include refraction errors, binocular visions, heterophoria or accommodative insufficiency as it is popularly known.
In order to avoid eye strain and get relief from headaches, you should always soothe your eyes. You can do this by washing your eyes frequently with water. This will also help the eyes and its inner muscles to relax. You can also wear sunglasses when you are out. This should be done all the year round. You can also go for different types of eye exercises which the doctors prescribe. You should also take care not to strain your eyes at your workplace because this is the place where you spend most of the time.
